Road to Chicago Pt. 4

Race Day!! this was such an incredible event. I went through the ups and downs of running a long distance race and even burst into tears as I crossed the finish line. But everything I worked towards in 2019 came to the surface when the medal was put around my neck. The loss of my grandmother, the training, the fundraising, and spending an incredible weekend with my wife.

Around mile 15 or so I came to the realization that I would not meet my goal of 4.5 hrs and it depressed me a little, but then I had an over whelming since of gratitude and was able to live in the moment. Although I ran this race nearly 2 years ago, I still can go back and feel that intense emotion and I can see the neighborhoods with all the spectators. The Chicago Marathon was an incredible experience that I will forever cherish.
